Report Sheds Light on Most Dangerous Cities when it Comes to Car Accidents in the U.S.

CarCrash3

Driving down the road on our everyday commute, or on the weekend while running errands, we have all thought that the drivers in our city are the worst. From running red lights, to illegal turns, speeding, and clearly being distracted by cell phones and electronics, virtually everyone who drives a car has probably seen “bad driving” on their local city roads and highways. But what are the most dangerous cities when it comes to car accidents (and “bad drivers”) in the United States? Forbes magazine has the scoop.

The Top 10 Most Dangerous Cities in the U.S. for Car Accidents

According to Forbes, rather than declining over the years, the number of car accidents is actually increasing. In fact, the number of fatal car accidents in the United States rose 10% from the years 2020 to 2022. Taking a snapshot of where fatal car accidents are concentrated helps to paint a picture of which U.S. cities are really the most dangerous for drivers.

According to Forbes, Albuquerque, New Mexico ranks number one as the most dangerous city for drivers, and it is the city with the highest number of fatal car accidents where distracted driving was involved. Second on the list is Memphis, Tennessee. Memphis is home to the highest number of total fatal car accidents in the United States, and the highest number of drunk driving fatal car accidents. Coming in third on Forbes’ list is Detroit, Michigan, with Tucson, Arizona being the fourth most dangerous city for drivers. Coming in fifth, Kansas City, Missouri has a high number of incidents of drunk driving car accidents (the fourth highest in the United States) and the fifth highest number of total fatal car accidents. Six through ten on the Forbes’ list of most dangerous U.S. cities for car accidents includes Dallas, Louisville, Phoenix, and Fort Worth (making Texas the only state with two of the most dangerous cities for fatal car accidents within its borders).
